The ideal candidate will have a mixture of traffic and ITS design experience along with client relationship management and business development. While the major focus will be TDOT style work for state and local agencies, this position will also lead designs for permit projects. Projects will generally be focused in Tennessee, however LJA values work sharing opportunities and performing similar work in other states is expected. Responsibilities

Building relationships and growing business in the transportation sector.

Develop business by marketing to existing clients and identifying and marketing to new clients.

Meeting with DOTs, cities, counties and local agencies for business development purposes.

Responsible for project delivery aspects such as design calculations, plan preparation, and direction of traffic designs for TDOT and local government projects.

Manage and maintain project schedules and financial requirements.

Uses advanced techniques, theory, precepts and practices in a specialized engineering field and related sciences and disciplines.

Interact with client and other consultants and maintain good communication skills.

Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

Required Education/Licenses

Bachelor of Science Degree, Civil Engineering is required.

Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Tennessee with ability to be licensed in other states.

Required Experience

20+ years of experience with Microstation, (or Open Roads) and TDOT procedures a must

Experience with signal design, timing, intersection improvements, signing/striping, work zones, technology/ITS, traffic simulation/modeling, traffic studies, and roadway safety.

Experience with various traffic software packages

Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis.

Proven experience in handling project management responsibilities including multiple deadlines.

Strong communication skills to interact with clients and internal employees.

Ability to build strong relationships.
