The Software Engineer I supports the development and maintenance of engineering tools used in parcel handling and automation systems. This position focuses on improving CAD tools, simulation software, and related applications using C#, C++, and Python.
Responsibilities
You will design, develop, and maintain CAD tools, simulation software, and custom automation applications—primarily using C#, C++, and Python—to support parcel handling systems
You will collaborate with engineering, systems, research, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, align with project specifications, and translate them into modular software solutions
You will build and optimize front-end and back-end workflows, ensuring data integrity and efficient post-processing for camera and microphone inputs
You will test, troubleshoot, and update software to ensure performance, incorporating operator feedback to improve usability and add new features
You will document software architecture, data collection procedures, and system code to support maintainability and effective knowledge transfer
You will assist with software deployment, resolve technical issues, and support continuous improvements in automation processes and efficiency
You will work toward or hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
You will have 1–3 years of software engineering experience, preferably in automation or material handling projects
You will have strong programming skills in C#, C++, and Python
You will have experience with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Siemens NX) and simulation software
You will have effective problem‑solving and debugging skills
You will have strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and a high level of attention to detail and organizational ability
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
1–3 years of software engineering experience, preferably in automation or material handling projects
Strong programming skills in C#, C++, and Python
Experience with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Siemens NX) and simulation software
Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and maintain attention to detail
Eligibility
Eligible applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
This is a full-time, exempt role with a hybrid work setting in Irving, Texas, USA.
