The role involves developing software components and integrating open-source code to address time series analysis challenges using cutting-edge Big Data / Cloud technology. The candidate should work autonomously, solving problems quickly while progressing toward broader strategic goals set by Architects. This is a hybrid role with a collaborative team. Essential Job Responsibilities
The ideal candidate is a strong systems integrator with an eye for opportunities to enhance, optimize, or increase robustness of an existing code base. Experience with infrastructure as code and the ability to define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud using modern tools. Design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Security Clearance - A current U.S. Government Security clearance is not required at start, but will be processed for a Secret level clearance; U.S. citizenship required. 9+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development (Python or Java) with a Bachelor’s in a related field; OR 7 years relevant experience with a Master’s; OR equivalent education/experience. Experience developing infrastructure in AWS. Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications and proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of hire. Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at our Columbia, MD office. Flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed. TS/SCI level security clearance preferred. Experience with DISA’s Big Data Platform or similar big data systems (e.g., Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR). Experience with Kubernetes (or vendor flavor). Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Gitlab-CI, Travis-CI). Understanding of agile software development methodologies and tools (JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, GitLab, etc.). Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Maven, virtualization (ovirt, Proxmox, VMware, etc.). DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required as directed by the customer.
