Overview
Sr. Principal Air Vehicle System Test Engineer (Various International Locations) – R10207821-20. Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Air Vehicle System Test Engineer - Engineering Field Service Representative (FSR) to join our Test and Evaluation team. The position requires 6+ months of training on a Domestic Assignment to Pax River, MD and Rancho Bernardo, CA, after which deployment to Japan, Italy, United Arab Emirates, or Guam for a minimum of 24 months, based on business needs. The international location will be selected by Northrop Grumman after training. If no deployment location is available, relocation to a core U.S. location may be required.

Responsibilities
Embedded with a US Navy unit as the system subject matter expert, providing training on system hardware and software and supporting sailors with system operations, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance.
Serve as the primary interface between maintenance, design, and flight test engineering; coordinate with NGC and customer Flight Engineers, aircraft maintenance technicians, US Navy personnel, and Subsystem SMEs to sustain operations.
Operate Vehicle and Payload Test Controller (VTC/PTC) during start-up/shut down for launch and recovery; conduct static ground tests and troubleshooting.
Support the Navy in achieving full mission capability and provide reach-back/liaison support from Northrop Grumman Responsible Engineering/Development/Test Engineering teams.
Essential Functions
Provide inputs to update Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMS).
Review and contribute to engineering development and execute Detailed Test Requirements, Acceptance Test Procedures, and Ground Test Plans.
Install, operate, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and modify equipment per IETMS and related directives (TDs/ECRs/TEIs/AMRs/MAFs).
Perform Organizational/Depot-level maintenance and technical support on products, including equipment, integrated systems, subsystems, software at customer and/or field locations.
Develop general knowledge of all aircraft systems, VTC/PTC, Engineering Design and software; perform field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of air vehicle systems at customer locations (flightline or hangar).
Interpret and trace electrical and Air Vehicle schematics; perform electrical and RF troubleshooting using tools (multimeter, network/spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, TDR, etc.).
Review and analyze engineering schematics and supplier design data; support functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration on the Air Vehicle.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
8+ years of engineering experience with BS, 6+ years with MS, or 4+ years with PhD in STEM, as applicable for the role.
Willingness to complete required training in Pax River, MD and Rancho Bernardo, CA.
Willingness to support an international assignment in Japan, Italy, United Arab Emirates, or Guam for 24 months; location determined by business needs.
Willingness to relocate to a core U.S. location if required by business needs.
Ability to pass a new hire physical if required by the company.
DoD Secret clearance in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation, with ability to obtain Top-Secret/SCI clearance within reasonable time; ability to obtain and maintain PAR access.
Experience with Aircraft Ground Test Operations.
Strong MS Office skills and ability to communicate with leadership; strong interpersonal and briefing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to support new/extended assignments at a company-selected international or Guam location after initial 24-month assignment.
Active DoD Top Secret clearance in-scope or CE enrollment.
Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle test or maintenance experience; MQ-4 Vehicle Test Controller or Triton BETTIE operator experience preferred.
Aircraft Test or Lab Test experience; experience with equipment to test and troubleshoot aircraft systems.
Experience loading data and configuration files to aircraft assemblies.
Salary and Benefits Primary Level Salary Range: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00. The salary range is a general guideline. Eligibility for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives may apply depending on position and performance.
