Overview
POLYWOOD is seeking a hands-on Plant Controller who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this highly visible role, you’ll drive cost transparency, develop robust plant reporting systems, and influence business decisions with data. You’ll implement and manage a comprehensive standard costing system and support plant operations and corporate leadership with clear, actionable financial insights. What You’ll Do
Lead Standard Costing Systems: Design and implement standard costing across materials, labor, and overhead; conduct BOM reviews, validate routings, establish allocation models; reconcile variances between standard and actual costs (usage, efficiency, absorption); partner with supply chain, engineering, and production to maintain accurate cost drivers.
Own Plant-Level Financial Reporting: Manage metric reporting, budgeting, and monthly variance analysis; deliver clear financial commentary and forecasts to plant and corporate leadership; oversee inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes; support capital expenditure tracking and return on investment analysis.
Drive Operational Insight: Develop KPIs for throughput, OEE, downtime, scrap, and cost per unit; build dashboards and scorecards; provide insights that drive continuous improvement and cost reductions.
Ensure Controls and Compliance: Maintain internal controls around inventory, labor, and spending; support GAAP compliance, internal audits, and reporting requirements; document financial workflows to ensure consistency and scalability.
Collaborate Across the Business: Serve as a financial partner to the Plant Manager and other operations leaders; coordinate with IT, Engineering, and HR to ensure system alignment and data integrity; assist with ERP optimization and automated reporting initiatives.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
CPA or CMA certification preferred
Minimum of 7 to 10 years of manufacturing finance experience with a strong focus on cost accounting
Demonstrated success in implementing and managing standard costing in a plant setting
Strong knowledge of cost drivers, inventory flow, and production finance
Proficiency with Excel and ERP systems such as Acumatica, SAP, Oracle, or similar
Experience with business intelligence tools like Power BI or Tableau
Clear communication skills and a collaborative leadership style
