Arts Assistant

Position Summary The major responsibility is to assist with the planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of quality and developmentally appropriate programs, activities, services, and special events in the club’s arts program areas for youth ages 6-18. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in providing a variety of programming options reflective of the BGCB Arts Program. The Assistant will also run individual programs, activities, trips, etc. including arts programming such as visual, performing, culinary, and literary arts. Supervise and discipline members participating in programs and services within the program area and throughout the clubhouse as deemed appropriate. Assist in completing BGCB’s program active standards as assigned. Participate in collaborative programs and events with staff from other departments and community organizations. Participate in evaluation efforts, including the annual member survey, to assess impact. Assist volunteers and consultants providing instruction and support to members. Secure, maintain, and monitor materials and equipment; maintain a safe and clean environment. Participate in supervision sessions and professional development opportunities. Travel between sites and to activities as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Art Director. General Expectations Model healthy lifestyles to youth/teens. Promote inclusive, child-friendly environments for youth of all abilities. Engage in annual professional development to build skills in youth development. Maintain a safe environment free of abuse. Position Requirements High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s preferred. Experience developing arts programs for youth, especially in out-of-school settings. Knowledge of arts trends, techniques, and technology. CPR/FA certification required or to be obtained. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in MS Office and web tools preferred. Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and independently or as part of a team. Flexibility in working hours; valid driver’s license preferred. Additional Details
