Overview
The University Director of Student Success Platforms and Data Strategy role at The City University of New York leads development and implementation of data and technology strategies to improve retention, persistence, and completion across CUNY. The role reports to the University Dean of Student Success Initiatives and collaborates across offices to leverage operational data systems and drive adoption of student success technologies, including CUNY Transfer Explorer and EAB Navigate 360, and other tools as needs emerge. The Student Success Initiatives unit within the CUNY Central Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) manages university-wide programs (ASAP, ACE, CLIP, CUNY Start, CUNY EDGE, and related initiatives) serving about 40,000 students annually and operating across multiple campuses. The unit supports key University strategic priorities, including transfer and academic advisement, and serves as the business owner of key technology tools, including CUNY Transfer Explorer and EAB Navigate 360. Responsibilities
Serve as the product ambassador and subject matter expert within the Central Office and the main point of contact for partner colleges, ensuring alignment across the university. Collaborate with the Office of Academic Technology, the Office of the Registrar, and other Academic Affairs divisions, as well as partner colleges, to advance student success technology adoption in line with University priorities. Oversee conceptualization, planning, and execution of new feature development, defining business requirements, leading development meetings, and liaising with the product development team. Manage day-to-day CUNY-EAB partnerships with participating colleges, identify annual priorities and strategies, and oversee implementation. Lead or participate in cross-functional teams and manage digital collaboration environments to support communication and collaboration. Identify data inputs to support strategic goals, strategize implementation, and facilitate technical problem resolution. Design and deliver training sessions for college and Central Office stakeholders; create or partner on self-service resources such as user guides, FAQs, tutorials, and best practices. Forge and nurture partnerships to increase platform adoption. Create dashboards to monitor usage metrics, adoption rates, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement. Attend relevant events, stay current on feature releases and emerging technologies in post-secondary student success. Stay current with best practices in data-driven student success to continually improve data strategies. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and eight years’ related experience required. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Business, Data Science, or a related field. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across diverse units and drive change. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to use data to identify challenges and drive improvements in student outcomes. Experience using data to develop strategies and foster data-informed decision making. Experience conducting needs assessments and developing training for users of academic platforms. Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft, DegreeWorks, CUNY Transfer Explorer, EAB Navigate 360, or similar ERP or student success systems; knowledge of higher education data streams. Proficiency with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau), data prep tools (Power Query, Tableau Prep), and SQL. Familiarity with the product development lifecycle and cross-functional collaboration. Understanding of UI principles, cross-browser compatibility, accessibility standards, and web security standards. Knowledge of higher education policies related to retention and student success, especially transfer. Compensation And Benefits
The salary range is $118,354 - $137,185, commensurate with credentials, education and experience. The CUNY salary schedule may include increases; details will be provided upon offer.
