Overview As a Roadway Design co-op, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the design and development of highway and roadway projects. Projects can range from small intersection and multimodal corridor improvements to large interchanges, multimodal improvements, bridge reconstruction projects and/or design-build projects. You will work closely with experienced design engineers and be involved in all aspects of the design process, from concept development to final construction plans. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated new graduate to apply their technical knowledge and make a significant impact in the field of highway and roadway engineering.

What You’ll Do

Assist in the design and development of highway and roadway projects, including geometric design, alignment layout, and cross-sections.

Produce and deliver highway design projects through a design submittal phase or construction phase.

Assist task lead/project manager in preparation of conceptual, preliminary, and final designs with supporting documentation.

Support development of specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules.

Prepare roadway design elements including alignments, profiles and corridors in Civil 3D.

Prepare presentation materials for meetings.

Assist in preparing, coordinating, and facilitating public presentations and workshops.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design elements seamlessly.

The position is based out of our Boston, Massachusetts office. Relocation and housing are NOT provided for this position.

What You’ll Need

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering program.

What You’ll Bring

Understands engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles at a basic level.

Shows proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Accepts and applies direction from peers and supervisors.

Obtains an understanding of introductory shop drawing and submittal procedures and requirements.

Ability to perform basic calculations.

Ability to organize information for use in drawings or other documents.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Willingness to learn and take initiative in a dynamic work setting.

What We Prefer

Completion of 2 years of post-secondary Civil Engineering program.

AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience.

Strong interest in transportation and infrastructure.
