Job Description A Superintendent directs the workflow of the project on site consistent with the project schedule and HITT safety and quality standards. The Superintendent provides leadership and serves as the liaison between project team members to promote the interests of both the business and clients, demonstrating characteristics of a mid-level leader. The Superintendent communicates project priorities to site staff and subcontractors, serving as the primary on-site leader for the construction project.
Responsibilities
Understanding and administering the HITT safety program, ensuring all accidents/incidents are reported and investigated, and assisting in safety inspections by outside agencies.
Maintaining HITT quality standards for all aspects of the project.
Leading on-site safety efforts, managing a safe jobsite for all involved.
Maintaining daily logs of activities and site conditions, managing punch list and closeout processes through owner/architect acceptance.
Working with the project manager to formulate and follow project schedules, ensuring proper methods and sequences are followed, and maintaining quality standards.
Developing good relationships with all subcontractors, the community, and ensuring fair treatment of subcontractors.
Ensuring accurate daily documentation of work, understanding subcontractor scopes, and proactively addressing problems.
Organizing the site team, arranging for facilities/utilities, and identifying long lead items for expediting.
Collaborating with the project manager and site team throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
A four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business is preferred; additional work experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree.
5+ years of experience in commercial construction, including with a general contractor.
Experience with tenant renovations, service work, occupied spaces, weekend work, and fast-paced projects is a plus.
Mastery of building processes and best practices.
Strong organizational skills for managing resources and meeting deadlines.
Project lead or superintendent experience preferred.
Proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office, ProCore, Adobe, BlueBeam.
OSHA 30 Certification is preferred.
Ability to walk and stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Strong communication, attitude, integrity, adaptability, and relationship-building skills.
Additional Information The salary range for this position in California is $108,900 - $165,770. Compensation varies by location and experience. HITT offers a comprehensive benefits package, including bonuses, health coverage, 401(k), wellness programs, paid holidays, and more.
