Pacific Fusion is seeking an exceptional
Senior Mechanical Engineer
to lead the design, development, and validation of mechanical components and systems essential to our advanced fusion energy systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving, and a proactive mindset to meet the challenges in fusion energy. You will lead collaborative projects and drive the overall development effort. Responsibilities
Develop innovative mechanical designs for complex engineering problems while meeting ambitious timelines. Lead design changes and improvements across our systems. Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and manufacturable. Provide structural mechanical analysis on various systems. Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to improve performance and reliability. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, software, manufacturing) to integrate system-level designs. Oversee creation of detailed design documentation and specifications. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in mechanical design and manufacturing technologies. Participate in risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s or PhD a plus. 6+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer. Advanced knowledge of CAD software, Creo preferred. Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Proven track record of developing and launching mechanical designs. Excellent leadership skills with ability to mentor junior engineers. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturability (DFM). Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Hands-on engineering design, rapid iteration, and creative problem solving in a lab setting.
