We are seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our team in Longmont, CO. With consultative direction, this position exercises latitude in setting technical objectives for opto-mechanical programs. In a leadership role, you will plan and oversee the resolution and implementation of opto-mechanical solutions, guiding professional and support staff. You will formulate multi-year technical plans for solution development, documentation, and deployment, and ensure compliance, reporting, and safety standards are met. You will evaluate integration of opto-mechanical solutions within the broader engineering environment, and oversee documentation, testing, maintenance, and engineering updates. You will communicate with engineering professionals, users, and management throughout the solution development cycle; serve as a prime technical contact on assigned systems or programs; develop staff; and identify future engineering needs and new or expanded business opportunities. Responsibilities

Manage professional and technical performance of opto-mechanical staff to ensure quality, business, and financial objectives are achieved. Provide mentorship, including performance reviews and salary management for staff. Lead analysis, investigation, and resolution of routine engineering problems with a focus on opto-mechanical systems. Direct planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of required professional and technical talent to maintain technical leadership and excellence. Independently perform challenging engineering work, document findings, communicate results, present technically, and support test activities on and off site. Design, develop, and test all aspects of opto-mechanical components and equipment. Demonstrate a strong understanding of optical systems, heat transfer, structural mechanics and dynamics, and opto-mechanical hardware design, fabrication techniques, and testing. Assist in defining functional, performance, and interface system engineering requirements. Perform other duties as assigned or required. Qualifications

A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in engineering or a related technical field with eleven or more years of progressively complex engineering experience; at least five years in a management role. May substitute equivalent experience for education. Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment. Thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; broad application across related technical specialties. Ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them in evolving environments; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and provide solutions to complex problems. Experience with designing, analyzing, building, and testing military systems; prior experience with optical, flight, space, and military systems is desirable. Experience with CAD, FEA, and CFD software such as Pro/E/Creo, SolidWorks, ANSYS, FEMAP, Fluent, and Icepak is desirable. Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of management, staff, customers, and government representatives.
