Healthcare Design Engineer (Fully Remote)
Davenergy Solutions is seeking a full-time Professional Mechanical Engineer with detailed experience in Healthcare Design to join our growing mechanical engineering consulting practice. The position involves performing engineering studies and design services at Healthcare and Laboratory facilities, including critical environment design, cleanrooms, USP 797/800 compliance, and BSL-2/3 rooms. The role requires field surveys of various properties, redesign work, code-required renovations, and cost/benefit analysis. Some projects may include energy modeling using Trane Trace, eQuest, or similar software. The ideal candidate will be adaptable to multiple property types and knowledgeable about HVAC systems for variable volume laboratories, chilled water distribution, and critical pressure controls. The successful candidate may also assist in commissioning activities and, depending on project capacity, in limited mechanical design.
Responsibilities
Perform engineering studies and design services for Healthcare and Laboratory facilities, including critical environment design and cleanroom projects.
Conduct initial design field surveys of government, commercial, industrial, multifamily, manufacturing, and institutional properties.
Collect information to redesign existing facilities, resolve project issues, and perform code-required renovations and cost/benefit analyses.
Perform energy modeling with tools such as Trane Trace or eQuest or similar software.
Work with a variety of HVAC systems, including variable volume laboratories, chilled water distribution, and critical pressure controls.
Assist in commissioning activities: construction document review, field installation verification, and equipment functional testing.
Provide limited mechanical design support as project capacity allows.
Job Requirements
An ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
10+ years of experience and PE license in Mechanical Engineering
10+ years of experience with a variety of HVAC systems
Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, ICC Building/Mechanical/Green Codes, USP standards, ASHE and NFPA codes
Knowledge of Trane Trace or ASHRAE RTS Modeling
Excellent communication and management skills; strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to complete assignments on time and within budget
Ability to travel on short notice (1 week or less)
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering
Registration
EIT required, PE required
Skills, Language, and Software
Ability to use a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products; strong computer literacy
Good interpersonal skills
