Chief Tax Economist
is responsible for forecasting revenue across all major and minor tax types, conducting monthly updates of the forecasts, and reviewing policy revenue impact statements across all tax types. Duties And Responsibilities : This role includes overseeing tax revenue forecasting, compiling and analyzing economic and policy information, evaluating economic drivers, and preparing documentation for the annual Oklahoma State Board of Equalization process. Oversee tax revenue forecasting. Compile and analyze economic, policy, and other relevant information and data. Evaluate economic drivers, key assumptions, and actual tax collection data to accurately forecast tax revenues. Prepare all documentation and participate in the annual Oklahoma State Board of Equalization process. Monitor and analyze monthly tax revenues, update projections, and produce monthly forecast update reports. Work with contract economists on the design and use of statistically reliable economic models. Maintain familiarity with regional, statewide, and local social economic data. Maintain and update internal databases to be used in economic analysis. Review and evaluate revenue impact reports for proposed legislation. Collaborate with policy analysts and provide guidance on developing revenue impact methodologies. Assist and advise the Governor's office, the Legislature, and other agencies regarding revenue-related data, projections, or the impact of existing or proposed legislation on revenue. Minimum Requirements : A master’s degree in economics, finance, or related field, plus 10+ years of work experience in the field of economics, forecasting, data analytics, and/or fiscal policy analysis. Advanced proficiency in at least one statistical programming language (SAS preferred). Preferred Qualifications : A Ph.D. in economics, finance, or related field. Significant work experience in the field of economics, forecasting, data analytics, and/or policy analysis.
