Construction Director . About The Role Provide decisive leadership to the entire site organization, championing a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and excellence. Serve as the primary representative of the company on-site, managing all key relationships with the EPCM contractor, subcontractors, local community representatives, and regulatory bodies. Ensure all site activities are executed in strict accordance with the project's gated lifecycle governance model and the detailed Project Execution Plan developed during the FEL-3 phase. Drive a "zero-harm" safety culture, ensuring that all work is governed by a robust safety management system aligned with ISO 45001 standards. Direct the EPCM contractor to ensure the construction program is executed with the highest standards of safety, productivity, and quality. Oversee all field execution, including management of field indirects, temporary facilities, construction utilities, and site logistics. Ensure that insights from front-end Constructability Reviews are fully implemented in the field to prevent delays and costly changes. Hold the construction team accountable for progress against the detailed, resource-loaded schedule mapped to the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). Take ultimate ownership of site-wide quality, ensuring the facility is built to specification and will perform as designed. Champion the implementation of the ISO 9001-based Project Quality Plan, ensuring all personnel understand and adhere to its requirements. Foster a proactive quality culture focused on the Cost of Conformance (prevention and appraisal) to mitigate the significant financial and schedule risks associated with the Cost of Non-Conformance (rework and failure). Ensure the Quality Control (QC) team is adequately resourced to execute all required receiving, in-process, and final inspections as defined in the Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). Provide strategic direction for the transition from construction to commissioning, ensuring a seamless and safe handover of systems. Oversee the entire phased commissioning sequence, from Pre-Commissioning (mechanical completion) through Cold Commissioning, Start-up (Hot Commissioning), and final Performance Trials. Ensure a dedicated Commissioning Safety Plan, including robust Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, is rigorously enforced during this high-risk phase. Manage the final handover to the operations team, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive documentation and the completion of operator training programs. Uphold the company's commitment to sustainability and its social license to operate by ensuring compliance with all ICMM principles. Oversee the implementation of all site-level environmental management plans, aligned with ISO 14001, to meet or exceed regulatory requirements. Act as the senior point of contact for local and Indigenous community relations, ensuring that all commitments made in community agreements are honored. About You Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Mining, or related field). A professional engineering designation (P.Eng./PE or equivalent) is highly preferred. A minimum of 20 years of progressive experience in the execution of large-scale ($1B+) capital projects within the mining, metals, or heavy industrial sectors. At least 5-7 years of experience in a top site leadership role (e.g., Project Director, Site Manager, Construction Manager) with direct accountability for project outcomes. Demonstrable experience leading a project through the full execution lifecycle, from post-FID construction mobilization through commissioning and handover to operations. Proven track record of delivering projects with an exemplary safety record. Extensive experience managing major EPCM contractors in a complex, multi-contract environment. Experience working in remote, camp-based environments is essential. Exceptional ability to lead, inspire, and manage large, diverse teams in a high-pressure environment. Deep understanding of project controls, contract administration, and financial management. Ability to manage a complex budget and control contingency drawdown effectively. Ability to anticipate and resolve complex technical, logistical, and interpersonal challenges with a sense of urgency. Superior communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Unquestionable personal and professional integrity and a commitment to ethical conduct in all business dealings.
