Overview
Boston University (BU) is an international, private research university. The Pardee School of Global Studies seeks an Academic Advisor to join the School’s Student Services team and support holistic academic advising for undergraduates. Responsibilities
Provide holistic academic advising, share information about degree requirements, support student services at the Pardee School, and contribute to student success efforts. Assist students with course selection, monitor student performance, connect them with appropriate academic support or enrichment opportunities, and maintain advising records in accordance with University and legal regulations. Provide guidance on academic policies and procedures and connect students with relevant campus resources. Manage a caseload of approximately 200 undergraduate students in the Pardee School, helping advisees craft educational plans based on aspirations, interests, and values. Encourage academic exploration and engagement in experiential learning opportunities such as internships, research, and study abroad. Explain University and School/College academic policies and procedures; perform outreach and track student engagement to ensure students utilize advising and other resources on campus. Develop expertise using MyBU, the University’s Student Information System. Support incoming student orientation, student groups or organizations, planning community events, visiting prospective students and families, or staffing commencement activities as part of Student Services activities. Help lead first-year success seminars that introduce students to campus resources, build community, and promote habits of success. May participate in University and School/College committees and engage in professional development and training opportunities. Other duties related to student success as assigned. Qualifications
