Responsibilities
Oversee the purchasing of materials, supplies, and/or equipment, including litho labels, folding carton, plastics (vacuum form & acrylic fabrication), accessories and all items for displays, freight and other products and services. Assists the lead purchasing agent in negotiating pricing agreements with suppliers. Monitors the AVL to ensure we have multiple approved suppliers in all categories.
Conduct analysis to inform strategic recommendations.
Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
Conduct periodic visits to supplier work locations to evaluate vendor performance.
Conduct regular market and spend analysis programs to drive cost savings and supplier improvements.
Conduct regular Supplier Performance and Alliance Relationship review meetings.
Conduct spend, specification, demand and market analysis to identify / evaluate value opportunities.
Conduct strategic sourcing process including RFQs, RFIs, and RFPs.
Conduct training and information meetings where needed.
Define and review Supplier Action Plans.
Define concepts for cost price minimization.
Define the market, cost structure and suppliers.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies.
Develop and implement contract negotiation strategy for assigned suppliers.
Develop and implement strategies to proactively manage down costs.
Develop innovation partnerships.
Develop multi-year commodity strategy which fully reflects requirements of the stakeholders.
Develop a strategic sourcing strategy for assigned categories.
Develop an offshore supply base by identifying, evaluating, and selecting second source suppliers.
Employ advanced program and project management tools, solutions and techniques.
Employ strong knowledge of key industry players, competitors and market dynamics.
Employ strong knowledge of key Supply Chain industry players, competitors and market dynamics.
Identify, document, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
Lead discovery and research of new vendors / technologies.
Lead measuring supplier performance, root cause issues, and driving improved performance
Maintain and update supplier scorecards and address supplier performance issues.
Perform Initial Supplier Risk Assessment.
Prepare and deliver performance appraisal for staff.
Provide market assessment to identify preferred suppliers.
Review, analyze and clarify vendor proposals and quotes to ensure equal comparison.
Setup blanket purchase agreements with suppliers where appropriate.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of.
Minimum five years’ purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of corrugated industry, shipping, receiving, inventory control and warehousing control practices, a plus.
Demonstrated understanding of different geographic typography and shipping and supply locations in nationwide.
Ability to communicate with customers and vendor representatives as well as with internal production and customer service personnel.
Ability to work extended and variable hours as required.
Valid Driver's License with DMV evidence of good driving record.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Other

Up to 20% local travel.
Physical and Environmental Requirements: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
Work environment includes front-office and manufacturing. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
