Overview ABA Specialist

is responsible for providing evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other developmental delays, and for assisting the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). They work collaboratively with a team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, collect and analyze data, and track progress towards established goals pertinent to a student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Responsibilities

Utilize various ABA interventions such as reinforcement procedures, prompting, shaping, and chaining.

Develop and implement individualized ABA treatment plans based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis under the supervision of the BCBA.

Assist the BCBA in the completion of comprehensive assessments (e.g., Functional Behavior Assessment) to identify a child's strengths, weaknesses, and target behaviors.

Create data collection sheets and track progress towards goals and objectives outlined in the IEP (Individualized Education Program) or BIP (Behavior Intervention Plan).

Collaborate with parents, teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive treatment approach pertinent to the IEP.

With support of the BCBA, provide ongoing training and support to caregivers and educators on ABA principles and strategies.

Maintain accurate and detailed records of interventions, progress notes, and data collection.

Model 1:1 direct teaching instruction including discrete trials, incidental teaching, and behavioral interventions.

Assist students in generalizing skills within general education settings.

Ensure that all programs and interventions are being taught consistently.

Attend TEAM meetings, and update students IEP goals and progress.

Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in Applied Behavior Analysis.

Qualifications

Two to three years of supervised ABA training, and experience using ABA methodologies, preferably in a public school setting, with students on the Autism spectrum. Bachelor's degree in the area of Education or Psychology preferred.

Though not required, candidates who are currently enrolled in BCBA graduate programs are ideal for this position. Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) candidates with 2-3 years of experience are also encouraged to apply.

Physical Working Conditions The work is primarily in an office setting with periodic travel for meetings. The role requires standing, walking, talking, hearing, and using hands to handle or feel objects. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Reports To Director of Special Education, Assistant Director of Special Education, and Team Evaluation Coordinator.

Supervisory Responsibilities Not applicable.

FLSA Classification Exempt (Professional).

Terms Of Employment Ten-Month Position. Salary schedule followed for our ABA specialists, based on a forty hour week. Per Framingham Public School Policies and Procedures.
