About the role

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Sr. Manager, AV Operations to lead teams responsible for the safety, performance, and efficiency of Gatik’s autonomous vehicle fleets. This role oversees the day-to-day and strategic operations of Freight-Only deployments, including management of fleet operations, data collection, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Sr. Manager will serve as the connective point across internal stakeholders, ensuring that operational performance meets company standards, customer commitments, and regulatory requirements. You will partner closely with Safety, Compliance, Fleet Maintenance, Engineering, and Product teams to scale operations, optimize fleet performance, and support Gatik’s transition to fully driverless logistics. This role is onsite 5 days a week at our Mountain View, CA office! What you'll do

Lead and manage fleets, data collection, ensuring safe and efficient daily operations. Drive operational performance across Gatik’s Freight-Only fleets, with accountability for safety, efficiency, uptime, and customer service. Partner with cross-functional teams (Safety, Engineering, Compliance, Fleet Maintenance, Product, and Customer Operations) to align fleet operations with company goals and service commitments. Establish and manage KPIs to track safety, reliability, utilization, and efficiency; implement continuous improvement based on operational insights. Oversee workforce planning, training, and readiness of AVOps teams to support scaling operations across multiple sites. Ensure strict compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and internal safety and regulatory standards. Lead the development of operational playbooks, escalation processes, and contingency models to ensure business continuity. Support data-driven decision making by ensuring high-quality data capture, reporting, and feedback loops into engineering and product development. Act as a key escalation point for operational issues, providing direction and solutions in real-time. Represent Operations in executive reviews, customer discussions, and external stakeholder meetings. What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Logistics, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred. 7+ years of experience in operations, fleet management, logistics, or program/project management, ideally in transportation, technology, or autonomous systems. Proven leadership experience managing operations teams and large-scale programs in high-growth environments. Strong understanding of safety standards, compliance frameworks, and fleet performance management. Experience with command center operations, dispatch, or control room environments preferred. Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional priorities. Data-driven mindset with experience in operational reporting, KPI management, and continuous improvement. Ability to balance strategic planning with real-time operational decision-making. Flexibility to support 24/7 operations as required. Direct experience working with autonomous vehicle technology, robotics, or advanced mobility systems strongly preferred.
