Responsibilities

Supervise the store team to generate revenue through the daily processing of donated goods; drive the daily workflow of receiving, sorting, pricing, merchandising, and selling high volumes of donated clothing, furniture, and household goods. Support the store manager in operating a high-volume retail operation to support the mission of Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana. Lead, supervise, and motivate store employees to reach production guidelines (minimum 125 garments per hour with a minimum quality standard of 80%); ensure constant rotation and flow of merchandise to the sales floor daily. Support staffing by coaching, training, developing, and leading the store team. Ensure compliance with all safety practices and policies. Maintain a positive public image of Goodwill through a clean store environment, fresh product, and excellent customer service. Lead and assist in the receiving, pricing, and displaying of store merchandise. Open and close the store; balance cash registers and conduct end-of-day procedures. Maintain a clean and hazard-free store through daily monitoring and cleaning of all areas. Perform duties of all store personnel including cash register, donation receiving, sorting, hanging, pricing, cleaning, etc. Communicate daily needs with transportation department and district manager. Assist in scheduling employees to ensure adequate coverage for processing donations from the donation door to the sales floor on the same day. Conduct daily store walkthroughs, daily team huddles, and regular store meetings. Know production, revenue, and expense budgets and work to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.

Skills and Abilities

Achieve budgeted goals and implement contingency plans if goals are not met. Interact cordially and productively with a variety of people. Market Goodwill and explain the mission to the public. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with store personnel while motivating them to their best performance. Read, write, and communicate clearly in English. Work a flexible schedule on short notice, including nights and weekends, and occasionally long hours. Have access to transportation; pass MVR check and provide proof of a valid driver’s license, liability insurance, vehicle registration, and a current vehicle inspection sticker. Use repetitive hand movement for sorting, hanging, and pricing. Engage in prolonged standing, walking, and bending. Function in a fast-paced work environment with occasional periods of high stress. Have knowledge of clothing brands and household item values.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two years’ experience in retail management preferred. Background in leading teams in retail sales, production, manufacturing, or assembly preferred. Maintain minimum liability automobile insurance as required by the State of Louisiana. Possess a valid driver’s license, maintain current registration, and state inspection. Proficient in computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and other programs.
