Performs month-end closing procedures by creating journal entries and recurring journals. Conducts analysis and balance sheet account reconciliation for all fixed asset related accounts. Assists in the preparation of detailed schedules for quarterly and annual audits. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Processes Fixed Asset journal entries and recurring journals monthly. Processes check invoice coding and approvals, accrues tax, checks invoices for accuracy and submits to A/P for processing. Reviews Expenditure Request Forms and communicates with external departments to manage asset additions/disposals. Maintains the Asset Management module monthly by setting up new stores, remodels and facilities projects in the system as well as removing fixed asset disposals. Maintains monthly reconciliations of fixed asset accounts. Prepares schedules for audits and reviews including but not limited to the fixed asset roll-forward. Proactively assess the accuracy and validity of CIP balances by following up with relevant departmental contacts (Facilities, Development, IT, etc.) Communicates with upper management in determining capitalization rates and calculates and records capitalized labor and interest monthly. Updates and maintains Accounts Payable vendors. Ensures SOX compliance by assisting the accounting team in adhering to internal controls. Participates in special projects as necessary. Interacts professionally and ethically, constructively participating as a collaborative team member in pursuit of common goals. Other activities, duties or responsibilities that are assigned by your supervisor. Qualifications
Education/Work Experience:
Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance required. Minimum 5+ years’ accounting experience required, preferably in restaurant/retail industry. Very good working knowledge of GAAP required; experience with Sarbanes Oxley internal control requirements. License/ Certifications:
N/A Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be decisive and able to make fact-based decisions. Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset and skills; meticulous attention to detail. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners. Ability to prioritize and plan work assignments and work under pressure of frequent and tight deadlines. Ability to read, write, and interpret complex reports, documents, and correspondence. High level of proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications, customized database applications, and internet research tools. Adept at managing and prioritizing competing time sensitive requests while working well in a team atmosphere that may be under pressure. Ability to exercise independent judgment on matters of significance to the company. Ability to work at the Support Center consistent with the hybrid work policy.
