In this role, you will work individually or as part of a team to review and test software components for adherence to design requirements, documenting test results. You will resolve software problem reports, applying software development and design methodologies suitable for the specific development environment. The position involves providing input on system design, such as hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and leveraging Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) products in place of new development. Responsibilities

Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance specifications, working with system and hardware engineers to understand project limitations and performance requirements.

Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features, implement complex algorithms, and ensure adherence to timing, resource, or interface constraints, including experience with MapReduce models and tools like Hadoop, Hive, and Pig.

Debug and modify existing software to correct defects, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance, ensuring integration with Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) environments and distributed Big Data stores (e.g., HBase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table).

Develop simple data queries and complex database or data repository interfaces for existing and proposed databases, using serialization formats such as JSON and/or BSON.

Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development processes, implement quality control, and oversee delegation of programming and testing responsibilities within software development teams.

Serve as the technical lead of multiple software development teams, guiding the software development process and monitoring team performance to meet process standards and operational specifications.

Write or review software and system documentation, develop software solutions through scientific analysis, and recommend new technologies and processes for complex projects, with at least five (5) years of demonstrated cloud experience at 10% FTE.

Possess extensive SWE experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university; however, four (4) additional years of SWE experience on similar projects may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required.

Must have the ability to analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance specifications; experience with MapReduce and tools like Hadoop, Hive, and Pig is desired.

Experience with Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) environments and distributed Big Data stores (e.g., HBase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table).

Experience developing data queries and interfaces for databases, with JSON and/or BSON serialization.

Strong documentation, quality control, and leadership capabilities within software development teams.
