As a Database Administrator II, you’ll play a critical role in deploying, maintaining, and optimizing databases across the firm’s Microsoft SQL Server platform. You’ll join a firmwide team that delivers advanced Level 3 support, investigates system challenges, and ensures our data infrastructure is secure, reliable, and high-performing. You’ll collaborate with developers, project managers, vendors, and engineers to support a wide variety of business applications while working hands-on with the latest SQL Server technologies. This is a highly impactful position where your expertise in database administration and problem‑solving will directly support the firm’s global operations. Responsibilities
Database Administration – Support, administer, and maintain development, test, and production environments across multiple SQL Server editions. Project Support – Partner with project managers, developers, vendors, and engineers to provide DBA expertise for database deployments and upgrades. Data Integration & Reporting – Create and maintain SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and manage security and deployment for SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports. Performance Optimization – Troubleshoot and resolve server and database performance issues, implementing tuning strategies to improve system reliability. Security & Compliance – Administer SQL Server security, safeguard sensitive data, and adhere to IT service delivery, governance, and change control standards. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing – Develop and maintain configuration, troubleshooting, and integration documentation for supported systems. Collaboration & Support – Work with server, storage, and network engineers to resolve issues and minimize downtime; rotate on‑call for 24/7 operational support. Qualifications
Education & Experience – Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience, plus 5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server administration. Technical Expertise – Hands-on experience with SQL Server 2014–2019, including installation, configuration, replication, log shipping, and database mirroring. Programming & Development – Proficiency in Transact-SQL; ability to write, debug, and maintain scripts, stored procedures, functions, and views; experience developing SSIS packages and optimizing SSRS reports. Database Design – Solid understanding of normalized database design and modeling. Optional Skills – Familiarity with tools such as Idera, RedGate, SentryOne; PowerShell scripting; Always On availability groups; failover clusters; and SSRS report development. Core Strengths – Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities. Compensation
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in Chicago. Compensation includes flexible benefits including healthcare, paid time off, retirement, and professional development opportunities. Compensation Range Chicago: $131,000 - $143,500 How to Apply
