Overview
UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge is a distinctive meeting and retreat venue located 100 miles east of the UCLA campus in the San Bernardino Mountains. The 50-acre lodge offers meeting spaces and accommodations for groups from September through mid-June. During the summer, the Bruins Woods Family Camp program operates for ten consecutive weeks, accommodating up to 80 families each week. Position Summary:
The Manager of Maintenance and Security oversees the maintenance, repair, and security of the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge (LAL) facilities. This role supervises a team to address immediate and long-term maintenance needs, with a focus on guest satisfaction and operational viability of the lodge. Responsibilities include implementing safety and security protocols, managing work orders and maintenance programs, overseeing a budget totaling $700,000, and coordinating projects across teams. The role requires hands-on maintenance tasks and winter snow removal as needed. The Manager is committed to a safe and efficient environment for employees and guests. Responsibilities
Oversee maintenance, repair, and security of LAL facilities. Supervise a team and manage safety protocols and security measures. Manage work orders and preventive/capital maintenance programs. Coordinate projects across departments and external teams. Maintain operating readiness and guest satisfaction, including snow removal during winter. Operate within a budget of $700,000 and monitor expenditures. Qualifications
Skill in managing a complex facility capital improvement program and budgets up to $2.4 million (Preferred). Ability to set priorities reflecting the relative importance of pending repairs in context with operational requirements (Required). Interpersonal and communication skills to work with subordinates, guests, team members, campus personnel, and management (Required). Working knowledge of trade-related tools and materials; ability to organize and secure them (Required). Ability to complete work orders, solicit bids, make purchases, and supervise personnel using English language skills (Required). Ability to obtain bids and recommend awards; conduct ongoing purchases per University Purchasing Policies (Required). Experience supervising maintenance and coordinating project integration with all departments (Required). Knowledge of infrastructure systems (kitchen appliances, HVAC, generator, plumbing, steam boiler, electrical). Ability to manage fleet vehicles, snow plows, and boat vessels. Ability to recognize emergencies and take appropriate action. Diplomatic interaction with the public in a continuous public contact setting (Required). Physical ability to stand, climb, stoop, push, pull, crouch for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds (Required). Special Conditions for Employment
