The Medical Informatics Lab at DePaul University’s School of Computing is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the NSF-funded SCHOLAR project, part of the Smart and Connected Communities (SCC) Program. This interdisciplinary initiative, in collaboration with Sinai Health, aims to empower community health workers (CHWs) with advanced data-driven tools to improve healthcare access and outcomes for high-risk patients.
The postdoctoral researcher will play a key role in translating machine learning algorithms into professional software with an intuitive user interface, incorporating feedback from CHWs through iterative design and evaluation cycles. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic team of faculty, students, and researchers, contributing to cutting-edge research in medical informatics, human-centered AI, and health technology.
This position is based in DePaul University’s Medical Informatics Lab, affiliated with the Visual Informatics and Data Analytics (VIDA) group in the College of Computing and Digital Media.
Responsibilities
Conduct data collection, preprocessing, modeling, and analysis for the SCHOLAR project. Develop and deploy the SCHOLAR dashboard, incorporating CHW feedback through multiple design iterations. Collaborate with CHWs and senior research personnel to refine and integrate required functionalities. Mentor and work with graduate and undergraduate research assistants. Present research progress in weekly group meetings and contribute to peer-reviewed publications. Support the dissemination of research findings through technical reports, conference presentations, and journal articles. Requirements
