We are looking to add a Safety Director to our Safety Team supporting the Paving group. Primary Responsibilities
Develop, inspire, and grow safety team focusing on the Paving group to support their safety needs. Direct field safety efforts on multiple projects with self-perform and subcontracted leadership and workforce, developing metrics to measure project and contractor safety performance. Oversight and management of subcontractor and contracted safety personnel. Develop and manage training and education presentations (both jobsite and classroom) for project, group and company focus. Collaborate with Operations Leadership to deliver a consistent cultural message. Develop long-lasting partnerships with customers by engaging them in project performance. Facilitate the group’s Safety Champions Team’s process improvement initiatives. Build trust and respect with field personnel to promote open communication and adoption of new safety practices. Assess crews and conditions in the field to ensure work is performed safely. Complete electronic documented site safety assessments and corresponding summary reports. Meet or exceed individual and team scorecard metrics and participate in Keeley strategic planning and i404 pillars. Identify trends and advise management on problem resolution. Assist project teams to create project safety plans and facilitate pre-activity meetings. Conduct After Action Reviews of loss-producing events and assist/lead root cause analysis of severe events. Monitor and maintain adequate supply of personal protective equipment for field employees. Promote safety and health awareness through crew and one-on-one conversations. Mentor safety interns each summer. Perform other tasks as assigned by the VP of Safety & Project Leadership. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Management, or a safety-related field preferred, or equivalent work experience. Ability to travel approximately 75% of the time (about 3 of 4 weeks per month). Minimum of 10 years’ safety-related experience. Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations and practices with emphasis in Construction. Strong safety record and driving record. Certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHST, OHST, STS-C, ASP, CUSP, or similar preferred. Advanced communication and presentation skills. Experience with paving construction preferred.
