AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the cloud. You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles, and collaborate across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing scalable capacity at low cost. As a DC Structural Engineer at AWS, you will be part of the design team for Amazon data centers in our Americas Region and contribute to projects around the world. You will work with architects, engineers, and designers to solve problems, challenge the status quo, and provide technical guidance, review milestone drawings by consultants, address large-scale implementation issues, and be responsible for structural design requirements. Responsibilities
Contribute to the design of prototypical data center facilities as a subject matter expert. Provide technical guidance to team members and review milestone drawings from consultants. Solve large-scale implementation issues related to structural design. Develop and ensure structural design requirements align with project goals for safety, reliability, and cost effectiveness. Review and design auxiliary framing systems used to support cable tray, conduit, ductwork, and related components. Contribute to the design and review of non-structural components and non-building structures as needed. Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: US Citizenship Required; ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering; 2+ years of experience in structural design for industrial or commercial projects; 1+ year in design of data centers, mission-critical facilities, hospitals, schools, commercial or residential towers. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Professional Engineering (PE) license or SE license; proficiency in building codes and regulations (including IBC and ASCE); proficiency in seismic analysis and design; experience with tilt-up and precast concrete, structural steel systems, seismic/wind/snow loading, and forensic analysis of building design and construction defects; experience in value engineering for structural systems and in design and calculation for auxiliary framing systems; experience in design and review of non-structural components and non-building structures.
