GFT is seeking a
Senior Bridge Project Engineer
to support a variety of projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Fairfax, VA office. Working on the Transportation team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. The team focuses on resilient, sustainable design and construction for multimodal roadway systems to ensure safe, efficient travel for all. What you will be challenged to do: Lead the design of bridge projects and coordinate with other disciplines. Meet with clients to develop current and future projects. Provide day-to-day leadership and technical expertise in structural design, rehabilitation design, NBIS inspections, load ratings, and construction document preparation, specifications, and estimates. Oversee technical design and quality review for bridge design projects; train, direct, and mentor less experienced engineers. Design and analyze structural components of bridges and related structures. Review project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client contract requirements, and related specifications. Develop details of bridge components for contract drawings and assist with CAD drawing development and production. Calculate quantities and develop construction cost estimates; review shop drawings. Perform NBIS inspections and load ratings; ensure accuracy of engineering design, reports, and plans; manage budgets and schedules. Inform Project Managers of workload changes, schedule shifts, or additional services. Receive technical guidance on complex problems and obtain supervisory approval for proposed plans. Demonstrate team management, scope of work development, manpower estimation, CPM scheduling, and progress tracking. Assist or participate in preparation of business proposals. Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil and/or structural engineering with an emphasis in structures from an ABET-accredited university or college. Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in VA. If not currently in possession of a VA PE, willingness and ability to acquire VA PE within six (6) months of hire. Minimum of 10 years of related bridge design experience. Structural engineering background; knowledge of AutoCAD (desirable), Microstation (required); experience with structural design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, MathCAD; experience with structural analysis software such as AASHTOWare BrR, Staad.Pro, MDX, LUSAS and/or similar tools. Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications; AREMA Manual for Railway Engineering desirable. DOT bridge design experience required. Team-oriented engineer with strong communication skills. Commitment to maintaining professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education and professional involvement. What We Prefer
Master’s degree in civil and/or structural engineering with an emphasis in structures from an ABET-accredited university or college. Design-Build experience; Public-Private Partnership (P3) experience. Compensation
The salary range for this position is $116,000-$175,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location. Featured Benefits
