Overview
We are looking for a Data Scientist to join Cloudflare's Data Analytics & Intelligence team. The team is responsible for building a centralized cloud data lake and an analytics platform that enables internal Business Partners and Product teams with actionable insights, and provides a 360-degree view of the business. The goal is to democratize data, support Cloudflare’s critical business needs, and provide reporting and analytics via self-service data applications to fuel existing and new business initiatives. Austin, Texas or major Texas cities with willingness to travel to Austin once a month for team meetings. If not in Texas, you must be willing to relocate. Data Scientist Responsibilities
Partner with business leaders, stakeholders, product managers, and internal teams to understand challenges and goals and address them using predictive analytics in a globally distributed environment. Understand the data landscape (tooling, tech stack, source systems) and work closely with the data engineering team to improve data collection and quality. Align analysis efforts with business/product strategy and roadmap to enable data-driven insights that support strategic goals. Communicate findings with strong audience-focused storytelling and clear takeaways. Define, implement, train, and productionize statistical, machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI models. Publish model scores, insights, and learnings at scale within the company using software engineering best practices. Identify macro and micro trends with statistical significance and understand key drivers behind them. Play an active role in hiring, growing, and mentoring the data science team in Austin. Examples Of Desirable Skills, Knowledge And Experience
M.S or Ph.D in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative fields. 3+ years of data science experience in a large-scale, globally distributed environment (PBs scale). Experience collaborating with Finance, Sales, and Marketing to build models and drive business outcomes (e.g., customer and revenue growth). 2+ years of experience with a fast-growing SaaS-based company is preferred. Strong experience in scientific computing using Python. Experience with Spark, SQL, Tableau, Google Analytics, BigQuery, or equivalent. Experience processing structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data. Strong cross-functional collaboration with data engineering and data analytics teams. Proven ability to apply data insights and ML to address business needs and drive revenue. Proficiency with large language models and GenAI frameworks for implementing AI-powered applications. Strong communication and presentation skills tailored to different audiences. Ability to align data initiatives with business needs in partnership with business, engineering, and product teams.
