Job Profile Summary The Design Delivery Principal is responsible for design decisions related to a portfolio of datacenter projects, including new construction, phased expansion, retrofits and upgrades, acquisition conversions, mechanical and electrical equipment selections, and standards upgrades in either a specific region or globally. They are an industry professional progressing towards becoming a recognized expert on datacenter design. They critically assess design decisions with consultation from senior staff across disciplines and apply Equinix standards and country-specific regulations to make the best design choices. They manage relationships and outputs of key design partners and equipment suppliers for their projects and escalate issues where relationships do not meet expectations. ResponsibilitiesDesign Process

Owns and leads a design process, interacting with Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical Partners (MEPs), and other design partners to deliver world-class datacenters with a focus on technical excellence, resilience, and cost management. Reviews and contributes to the development of standardized tools, techniques, and processes for managing and reporting the design process. Works with regional peers to ensure consistency and technical excellence in design and delivery practices. Considers applicability of design decisions, innovations, or standards changes across all regions. Regional Role

Obtains site-specific conditions, utility and infrastructure design details, costs, utility availability, liaises with planning authorities, and manages site logistics during construction. Provides locally informed infrastructure design, supplies information to master planning, and supports site-specific template modifications. Reviews master plans for delivery and submits for approval. Center of Excellence Role

Conducts master planning using global standards, incorporating regional information for project inception. Creates project visualizations, initial models, and cost estimates for business cases. Collaborates with regional teams for local infrastructure integration and with cost teams for business case support. Cross-Functional Coordination

Maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project buy-in. Leverages Center of Excellence teams and senior staff to ensure comprehensive design considerations. Manages resources through influence and expertise. Project Management

Manages design schedules, ensures timely creation and review of design documentation. Works with construction teams during project delivery, manages budgets, and controls change requests. Design Oversight

Stays current on design advancements, ensures designs meet standards and business needs. Qualifications

7+ years in a Design MEP firm, mission-critical building design, or as an architectural lead in a mission-critical practice. MS in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or Architecture; RA or AIA certification preferred. PE desirable but not essential.
