Responsibilities (English)

Responsible for leading and coordinating all technical aspects of the substations and balance of plant for large and HV substation projects.

The Lead Engineer must identify key internal & external stakeholders and their needs such as technical information, execution strategy, and drive effective communications to align people for efficient work.

Accountable for engineering activities on the assigned project such as: schedule development & updates, design safety, planning & tracking project design reviews, design optimization, On Time Delivery, risk management, and quality control/quality assurance.

Interface with internal and external team members such as the Project Engineering Director, discipline PEM’s, Designers, CAD Operators, Project Managers, and support organizations.

Responsible for the preparation and delivery of the concept and detail design for: power single line drawings, general arrangement layouts for substations, plan and elevation drawings, equipment erection drawings, construction details, layouts for high voltage bus, cable, high voltage equipment, electrical clearances, conduit, cable, and wiring, auxiliary power, grounding, lightning protection and control buildings.

Responsible for producing optimized outdoor general arrangements for AIS and indoor arrangements for HV/MV/LV equipment in control buildings and GIS buildings.

Capable of producing and delivering technical specifications and data sheets for all major HV equipment.

Must oversee or perform related studies and calculations as well as development of bills of material (BOM).

Manage a combined project BOM & MDL from multiple sources, write and/or review high voltage equipment technical specifications, and support sourcing for vendor quotations and evaluations.

Single point of contact for technical questions for the client and the project manager. This role is customer facing and requires a credible presence.

The Lead Engineer is responsible for technical change control and risk management.

Respond to site RFIs and conduct field inspections for compliance verifications.

Accountable for meeting customer engineering CTQ requirements.

Support proposals and tenders for HVDC or substation projects, including estimating man hours and application of major equipment.

Must have completed similar HV substation design projects in the past.

Responsable de la coordination et de la direction de tous les aspects techniques des postes électriques et du balance of plant pour les projets de grande envergure et de postes haute tension (HT).

L’Ingénieur Principal doit identifier les parties prenantes internes et externes clés ainsi que leurs besoins, tels que les informations techniques, la stratégie d'exécution, et assurer une communication efficace afin d’aligner les intervenants pour un travail efficient.

Responsable des activités d’ingénierie sur le projet assigné, incluant : élaboration et mise à jour du planning, sécurité des conceptions, planification et suivi des revues de conception du projet, optimisation des conceptions, respect des délais de livraison, gestion des risques, et contrôle qualité/assurance qualité.

Interface avec les membres internes et externes de l’équipe tels que le Directeur de l’Ingénierie Projet, les responsables de discipline (PEM), les dessinateurs, les opérateurs CAO, les chefs de projet et les fonctions support.

Responsable de la préparation et de la livraison des conceptions conceptuelles et détaillées pour : les schémas unifilaires électriques, les plans d’implantation générale des postes, les plans en élévation et en plan, les dessins de montage d’équipements, les détails de construction, les implantations de jeux de barres HT, de câbles, d’équipements HT, de dégagements électriques, de conduits, de câblage et de filerie, l’alimentation auxiliaire, la mise à la terre, la protection contre la foudre et les bâtiments de contrôle.

Responsable de la production d’implantations générales optimisées pour les postes extérieurs (AIS) ainsi que des implantations intérieures pour les équipements HT/MT/BT dans les bâtiments de contrôle et bâtiments GIS.

Capable de produire et livrer les spécifications techniques et les fiches techniques pour tous les équipements majeurs HT.

Doit superviser ou réaliser lui-même les études et calculs associés ainsi que le développement des nomenclatures.

Gérer une nomenclature de projet combinée (BOM & MDL) issue de plusieurs sources, rédiger et/ou revoir les spécifications techniques des équipements HT, et soutenir les achats dans la demande et l’évaluation des offres fournisseurs.

Point de contact unique pour toutes les questions techniques vis-à-vis du client et du chef de projet. Ce poste implique une interaction directe avec le client, nécessitant une présence rassurante et crédible.

L’Ingénieur Principal est responsable du contrôle des modifications techniques et de la gestion des risques.

Répondre aux demandes d’informations (RFI) du site et effectuer des inspections sur le terrain pour vérifier la conformité.

Responsable du respect des exigences critiques du client en matière d’ingénierie (CTQ).

Soutenir les appels d’offres et les propositions pour des projets HVDC ou de postes électriques, y compris l’estimation des heures de travail et l’application des équipements majeurs.

Doit avoir déjà réalisé des projets similaires de conception de postes HT.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (BSEE strongly preferred)

Minimum of 6 years of experience in Transmission & Distribution substation engineering for electric utilities and renewable energy power plants, with experience as an Electrical Project Engineer in substation-type applications, including primary (outdoor) substation design and required studies.

Able and willing to travel 20% including international and comply with GE travel guidelines.

Compétences et Qualités Souhaitées

Licence PE ou P.Eng.

In-depth experience applying High Voltage substation North American standards & guidelines (IEEE & ANSI standards and codes such as NEC and NESC), local Grid Codes, and related equipment (safety, application, sizing and integration). Ability to engineer design packages when no clear customer specification is provided.

Experience with GE GIS equipment

Strong knowledge of HV/MV equipment design including reactors, capacitors, transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, BOP, etc.

Strong contract and project management, EPC/EEP project execution experience.

Strong understanding of civil engineering and substation-related structural design requirements.

Working knowledge of design calculations for primary & secondary equipment such as battery sizing & DC system component selection, power transformer and circuit breaker selection, circuit protection, control and power cable selection and rating, bus, fittings, insulator, arrector selection, ground grid design, and lightning protection.

Field-testing and commissioning experience with safe work practices. Demonstrated electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capability.

Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent PC skills, including programming and design automation; familiarity with AutoCAD, BIM and Revit strongly desired.
