Now, our nuclear pump business is growing, and we’re looking for a mechanical engineer with deep aftermarket experience in pumps or rotating equipment to help lead the charge. This is an exceptional opportunity to learn the nuclear space alongside some of the industry’s most experienced pump engineers. MUST HAVE PUMP OR ROTATING EQUIPMENT AFTERMARKET ENGINEERING DESIGN EXPERIENCE. A day in the life

Your morning starts in SolidWorks, developing cross-sectional and general arrangement drawings, and building a complete bill of materials synchronized with our ERP system. You’ll head to the shop floor to support machining and pump assembly, then observe performance testing to verify hydraulic and mechanical targets. Throughout the day, you’ll collaborate across quality, manufacturing, and vendors to drive design integrity for ASME code components. Responsibilities

Create pump cross-sectional drawings, general arrangement drawings, and BOMs in SolidWorks and our ERP system. Prepare and review manufacturing drawings with geometric dimensioning and stack-up tolerances. Provide technical support during machining, assembly, and performance testing. Review new pump and parts manufacturing plans, as well as pump repair plans. Author and assess Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) plans for products, processes, and vendors. Prepare and review casting specifications, weld wire requirements, and ASME/Code material procurement documents. Develop and evaluate welding procedures (WPS, PQR, WPQ), heat treatment, and thermal coating procedures. Prepare and review Technical Equivalency Documents. Review, disposition, and approve internal and supplier nonconformance reports and corrective actions. Perform and review pump mechanical and hydraulic calculations. Prepare and review stress and seismic calculations, code reconciliation, and design reports for ASME code components. Prepare and review pump performance and vibration test reports and performance test requisitions. Support authoring and revising engineering process control procedures and documents. Develop and review pump assembly, installation, maintenance, and storage procedures. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Must have 5+ years of experience in the pump or rotating equipment industry. SolidWorks proficiency and strong mechanical design background. Sound understanding of engineering fundamentals. Clear communicator with strong analytical and computer skills. Self-motivated, eager to learn, and effective under pressure and tight deadlines. On-site in Chicago, Illinois, USA (at Hydro, Inc. headquarters). What we offer

Base pay range: $80,000.00/yr - $105,000.00/yr Global relocation support: For qualified candidates, Hydro, Inc. will assist with visa sponsorship, coordinate relocation to the United States, and provide temporary housing for the first 3 months.
