Overview Product Design Engineer — Cupertino, California, United States — Hardware

Summary: One of Apple’s R&D groups is currently seeking a senior product design engineer. This engineer will be responsible for mechanical design of mechanisms and mechatronic systems from concept generation through physical implementation and validation. We are looking for passionate and creative individuals to explore concepts and push the performance bounds of packaging and performance in highly integrated electro-mechanical systems.

Description In this role you will partner with cross-functional teams such as electrical, controls, and embedded FW engineers to realize mechatronic system designs.

Responsibilities

Mechanical design (3D and 2D drawings)

Mechanism design and integration

Electrical component integration (sensors, electronics, wiring, and harnesses)

Prototype, evaluate, develop, and harden designs

Close collaboration with cross-functional teams

Minimum Qualifications

BS in mechanical engineering or similar field

5+ years of hands-on, mechanism and mechatronic product design experience

Experience selecting and integrating electronics, sensors, and mechanisms in challenging packaging environments

Strong mechanical engineering analytical skills

Experience selecting materials and manufacturing processes based on engineering requirements

Experience working in technical project groups in a professional environment

Proficiency in 3D CAD and creating 2D drawings

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including emails, preparing slide presentations, and presenting technical concepts to multi-disciplinary teams

Detail oriented and capable of handling multiple assignments at once

Preferred Qualifications

MS or PhD in mechanical engineering or similar field

Fluent in Siemens NX including surfacing tools

Experience working through entire product cycle including shipping product experience

Experience leading teams through product development cycle from concept development to production bring up

Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
