Responsibilities
Makes and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, etc.
Operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, mixers, etc.
Safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
Maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
Ensures security of company assets
Lead the development of high-end, innovative pastry concepts for a variety of campus-wide events and daily service operations
Uphold the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation across all pastry offerings
Mentor and inspire a skilled pastry team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
Collaborate with executive chefs, catering managers, and event planners to deliver customized, show-stopping dessert experiences
Stay ahead of industry trends and seasonal ingredients to introduce fresh, cutting-edge menus that delight diverse audiences
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and university policies
Manage inventory, purchasing, and cost control while maintaining a focus on sustainability and local sourcing
Qualifications
Previous experience as a baker or in a related role preferred
Proven knowledge of baking methods, standards, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage
Required to obtain food safety certification(s)
Demonstrates basic math and counting skills
Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Minimum of 7 years of progressive pastry experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or executive role
Formal training from an accredited culinary or pastry arts program preferred
Strong portfolio demonstrating artistic flair, technical mastery, and innovative design
Proven ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Experience in university or hospitality-driven foodservice operations a plus
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
