Job Description
UPS is currently seeking a reliable Automotive Technician to join our fleet maintenance team. The technician will maintain a diverse range of equipment including delivery vehicles, heavy duty on-road tractors and trailers from various manufacturers. Propulsion systems include diesel, gasoline and alternative technologies (including CNG, LNG, propane, hybrid and electrical in some locations). Automotive Technicians must be skilled in troubleshooting and maintaining hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical and engine control systems.
Shifts may vary by location and can include 2nd or 3rd shifts, Monday through Friday, Sunday through Thursday, or Tuesday through Saturday depending on location needs. UPS offers attractive wages, benefits and paid vacations. Uniforms are provided. Technicians must possess the required hand tools to perform the job.
Responsibilities And Duties
Meets D.O.T requirements required by job assignment
Bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crouches, crawls, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and turns/pivots frequently throughout the workday
Sits infrequently as required
Uses appropriate hand grasping and manipulation to complete tasks
Operates standard and manual transmissions
Operates power and pneumatic tools
Meets all requirements to be Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certified
Knowledge And Skills
Current documented automotive mechanical experience
Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and PC
Possesses a full complement of personal hand tools
Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Preferred
Works full time shifts: 8-10 hours per day, 4-5 days per week
Dependable with regular and timely attendance
Available to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime as needed
Wears personal protective equipment as required
Works in a variable environment with exposure to typical shop conditions
Works cooperatively in a diverse work environment
Communicates effectively to perform tasks and maintain safety
Other Criteria This is a temporary position. Employer will not sponsor visas for the position. Starting Hourly Rate: $43.35. Note: For union postings, wage rates and ranges are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions. Employment Type: Seasonal.
