The Regional Operations Manager is a strategic leader of business success within a defined geographic, multi-branch operational area. This includes overseeing operations for the assigned branches as one high-performing unit including sales growth, margin protection and maximization, inventory management, process improvement, employee development, and ensuring excellent customer experience. Our customers are professional certified Technicians and Contractors who come to Johnstone for our product selection, expertise, and quality service. Johnstone is growing, and so can you.
Responsibilities Manages, trains, develops, counsels, and coaches Branch Managers including setting clear expectations and providing feedback to ensure performance.
Participates in the hiring, recruiting, and interview processes within established processes and guidelines.
Meets regularly with direct reports and with store support personnel and outside sales personnel to ensure delivery operational outcomes and support sales and other company initiatives.
Aligns with leadership on market pricing, quotes, promotions, and sales initiatives.
Serves as the point of contact for the assigned area or region for all staff and vendors.
Supports product strategy and works cross functionally with pricing, vendor management, marketing, sales and other related teams.
Builds and maintains relationships with customers and resolves escalated issues quickly and effectively.
Owns the regional sales and margin budgets and expense control.
Establishes and maintains contractor training schedules and ongoing product educational/awareness initiatives in conjunction with vendors and Johnstone Supply for assigned market/s.
Ensures warehouses, delivery routes, and showrooms run safely and efficiently.
Maintains a safe working environment through communication, training, observation, and coaching employees as well as removing safety obstacles and complying with all applicable regulations and requirements (i.e. OSHA, Fire).
Maintains full legal and policy compliance across all sites.
Supports outside and inside sales activities including developing and/or implementing sales programs and promotions, following through on established programs.
Analyses trends and produces reports utilizing metrics, KPIs, and other data to support decision-making and monitoring
Adheres to and enforces all company policies, procedures and business ethics.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, or related field preferred
10 or more years’ experience managing multi-site operations in distribution or HVAC/R with minimum five years’ experience managing multi-site locations preferred
Minimum of five years’ experience managing a team of direct reports
Knowledge of wholesale distribution store operations, including order fulfillment, inventory control, customer service, showroom merchandising, shipping and receiving, and sales
Proven record of P&L management including achieving revenue and margin goals
Expert knowledge of wholesale distribution operations, including order fulfillment, inventory control, logistics, customer service, showroom merchandising, shipping and receiving, and operational compliance management
Strong people-leadership skills, from hiring to performance reviews
Knowledge of human resource management principles, including recruiting and hiring, training and development, delegating, coaching, and evaluating employees
Strong knowledge of PC-based applications (Excel, Word, Explorer) and business related software (i.e. Eclipse).
General knowledge of governmental regulations as applied to product distribution, including OSHA regulations, Worker’s Compensation, Hazardous Materials Handling.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel across assigned territory
Past experience with HVAC/R business in service, installation, or management highly desirable
