Overview
Budget Management Analyst I - Department of Finance Salary Range: $70,338.00 - $112,807.00 ANNUALLY. A Budget/Management Analyst performs routine and complex budget or management analysis, fiscal research or related work. This position requires no supervisory duties or responsibilities and employees work under general supervision from a technical superior. Work is performed in an office with a conventional workweek and normal working conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Have a bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, public policy, economics, accounting, statistics, political science or operations research from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Have six months experience in the analysis of budgets, management operations, government programs, statistics, economics, public policy, legislation or systems.
Notes (Equivalencies):
A master’s degree in the listed fields may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of budget or management analysis or fiscal research.
Knowledge of techniques and application of management research and analysis.
Skill in the analysis of government agency budgets, organization, administration and staffing.
Skill in utilizing standard business software programs such as spreadsheets, word processing, database, presentation and graphics programs.
Ability to conduct studies, compile and analyze data and prepare reports.
Ability to conduct management and budget studies, analyze findings and make independent and cogent recommendations.
Ability to write clear and concise narrative and statistical reports.
Ability to develop budget and administrative procedures and forms.
Ability to express ideas clearly in written and oral form.
Ability to make presentations before groups and respond to questions and defend information effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City agency managers and other personnel.

Background Check:
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint.
Probation:
All selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
Eligibility:
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies for at least six months. The Director of Human Resources' decision on minimum qualifications is final.
Education Accreditation:
Education credentials obtained outside the US must be evaluated for US equivalency (information at www.naces.org).
Selection Process:
All candidates indicating minimum qualifications will be placed on the eligible list. Training and experience will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. Qualifed candidates will not be listed in rank order.
Examination Process:
Applicants must provide sufficient information to show they meet minimum qualifications. The exam will include evaluation of education, training and experience and may include supplemental questions.
