The experimental condensed matter physics research group of Prof. Samaresh Guchhait at Howard University invites applications for a postdoctoral position. The successful candidate will synthesize and study correlated and low-dimensional magnetic materials. Candidates with strong expertise in synthesis and characterization of quantum materials are encouraged to apply. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to work closely with students and collaborators. The appointment is expected to be two years: the initial appointment is for one year with an extension for another year contingent on performance. The start date is flexible. Supervisory Authority
No supervisory authority. Nature And Scope
The postdoctoral fellow is expected to perform research on the projects under this grant and other related duties. Principal Accountabilities
Synthesize and study structural, magnetic, and electronic properties of magnetic materials. Participate in grant writing and development of manuscripts, presentations, and reports. Work closely with students and research collaborators. Travel to other institutes to conduct research when needed. Perform other project-related duties as assigned by Dr. Guchhait, especially related to research, training, mentoring, and writing. Core Competencies
Strong expertise in quantum materials synthesis and characterization (e.g., structural, magnetic, magneto-transport). Proficiency in writing technical reports, research articles, and presentations. Skills in data analysis and presentation. Programming skills are highly desirable. Experience in fabrication techniques is a plus. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good English communication skills, both verbal and written. Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have received a Ph.D. in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics by the start date. Salary Range
$50,000 - $60,000 Seniority Level
