NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). These opportunities do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is at-will. The Enrollee may terminate enrollment at any time; NEW Solutions and the Agency may also terminate the relationship at any time. Note: An Enrollee is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An Enrollee is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions. BA/BS Degree in history, historic preservation, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Responsibilities

Work with the resources manager to provide introductory training for park interpretive staff to support education efforts that promote public awareness of historic preservation. Assist park staff with documenting historic structures in Seattle related to the Klondike Gold Rush, including condition assessments, building histories, and historic structures reports. Support drafting updated and new nominations to the National Register in collaboration with park staff and community partners. Maintain experience with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, MS Outlook, and MS SharePoint. Duties

Enrollee will work closely with park resources management staff to advise development of a park-led, community-supported historic preservation program for Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park – Seattle Unit. Primary duties and percentage allocations include: Provide introductory training for park interpretive staff to support education efforts that promote public awareness of historic preservation (40%). Document historic structures in Seattle related to the Klondike Gold Rush (30%). Collaborate with park staff and community partners to draft updated and new National Register nominations (30%). Overnight travel: The position requires at least one site visit to Pioneer Square Seattle to review historic structures if the Enrollee does not reside in the Seattle area. Physical requirements: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. The position may involve site visits to historic structures in Pioneer Square that are not ADA compliant, including stairs and uneven surfaces.
