Overview

Program Manager - STEM Education and Outreach for the Research Institute for Tactical Autonomy (RITA), University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) at Howard University. Provides instruction, instructional guidance, curriculum development, in-person and virtual course creation, partnership development, financial management, budget oversight, and stakeholder communication for the STEM Education and Outreach program. Responsibilities

Create, manage, and oversee day-to-day activities of the STEM Education and Outreach Program, emphasizing workforce development for undergraduates across the RITA UARC consortium. Plan, develop, administer, coordinate, and evaluate education program goals and objectives. Implement program policies and procedures with content focusing on Tactical Autonomy elements (e.g., Python, AI, machine learning, robotics, drones, electronics, physics, mathematics). Develop and implement quality interactive educational activities for in-person and online learning; manage participant content development. Ensure program goals are accomplished within priorities, timeframes, and funding constraints. Evaluate program effectiveness and devise evaluation methodologies. Drive event success measures (participation, satisfaction, government client satisfaction). Coordinate, plan, implement, and evaluate all aspects of professional enrichment events and program evaluation efforts for the UARC. Perform administrative and academic functions including research, program coordination, data collection, surveys, reports, and related duties. Manage contact lists for teachers, speakers, and partnerships; support outreach collateral creation (articles, videos, resources for teachers, handouts, webpages, posters). Coordinate program activities by delegating assignments to staff, interns, and other support services. Review program documents to determine acceptance or decisions pertaining to the program; develop and facilitate high-impact workshops, meetings, or conferences; coordinate communications scheduling. Perform other related duties as assigned. Core Competencies

Knowledge of computer applications (e.g., Workday, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Outlook, presentations). Ability to design creative outreach activities for undergraduate to PhD students with emphasis on AI, machine learning, Python, robotics, electronics, physics, and mathematics. Strong oral and written communications; ability to explain complex fiscal and budgetary concepts and make public presentations. Strong organizational skills; ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with staff, students, faculty, administration, and the public. Ability to conduct research and prepare comprehensive financial and budget reports. Ability to plan, organize, and collaborate effectively. Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in any STEM field and 5-7 years of related work experience. 1-2 years of experience and/or a foundation in Python (libraries, data structures, control flow, testing, debugging). Experience with education and outreach activities and STEM students, especially undergraduates. Special Note

Expected pay range: $98,297 - $108,127
