Overview
Friends University is seeking to fill the Director of Technical Services - Fine Arts position in Wichita, Kansas. This position will oversee all technical and operational aspects of performances and events held in Sebits Auditorium and other campus venues that primarily serve the fine arts division. This includes stage management, lighting and sound design, and supervision of student workers. The role supports a wide variety of events including theatre productions, music concerts, student recitals, campus assemblies, and external rentals. Responsibilities
Oversee technical and operational aspects of performances and events in Sebits Auditorium and other campus venues. Manage stage management, lighting and sound design, and supervision of student workers. Support a wide variety of events including theatre productions, music concerts, student recitals, campus assemblies, and external rentals. Qualifications
Significant hands-on experience in technical theatre production. Proficiency in lighting and sound systems, including digital consoles, DMX, LED lighting, audio interfaces, and AV recording. Prior experience in higher education, touring, or professional venue is a plus. Bachelor\'s degree in technical theatre, stage production, or related field preferred. Candidates with at least five years of relevant professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Strong working knowledge of modern stage technology and safety standards. Ability to work with equipment: ETC Ion Xe20 Lighting and Allen & Heath Avantis consoles. Familiarity with QLab, ETC lighting consoles, Dante audio networking, or similar platforms. Experience supporting rental clients or external production groups. Basic scenic or rigging experience is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lift and move technical equipment. Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Benefits, Work-Life, and Commitment
