$32.30/hr - $35.00/hr Epsilon Systems Solutions is currently seeking a Junior Diesel Engineer I in San Diego, CA.
Summary: The Junior Diesel Engineer under oversight, direction and guidance from Senior degreed Engineers, will provide full-time onsite engineering and technical support for the systems, subsystems and equipment contained in the Duties and Responsibilities section.
Duties And Responsibilities
Provides engineering support for the following systems: Provide engineering technical support for U. S. Navy ship’s Diesel Engines which includes the following systems, subsystems and equipment: Main Propulsion Diesel Engines, Diesel Engine Couplings, Clutches, Lubricating Oil Systems and associated components, Combustion Air systems and associated components, Power Generation Diesel Engines (Ship’s Service and Emergency Diesel Engines for power generation), Lubricating Oil Systems and associated components, and Combustion Air systems and associated components. Prepares layout and detail drawings and sketches for varied and complex design projects using computer aided drafting software. Responds to Engineering Services Request (ESR). Interfaces with CHENG and Deputy CHENG to address ship non-conformances, assess risk, and provide recommendations for new and existing diesel systems and material DFSs. Coordinates with other engineering personnel, production and maintenance team, ships force, NAVSEA, ISEAs, NSWCs, RMCs, and others as required to develop solutions for diesel systems related issues.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related STEM major. Two (2) years full-time experience with U.S. Navy diesel systems repair and modernization. Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens. Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Pay Range
The pay range for this role is $32.30 – $35.00 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including, but not limited to, business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
ADA Notations
Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration in the presence of occasional noise. Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways (onboard ships). Employee may be required to travel to different RMCs or Naval Ship locations. Travel may include extended underway periods and travel outside of the continental United States. Ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight. Ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp. Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Ability to wear a respirator. Frequently lifts, carries and helps setup tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 50 lbs. May be required to onboard ships to inspect Tanks, Voids and Spaces. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
