REGENT
Overview
At REGENT, we’re on a mission to revolutionize regional transportation between coastal cities with seagliders — wing-in-ground-effect craft that travel just above the water. Our goal is fast, affordable, and sustainable coastal transit for passengers and cargo, connecting cities, islands, and communities worldwide. Safety is a cornerstone, not a checkbox.
We’re scaling from a breakthrough prototype to full production with a team of engineers, builders, and operators who are passionate about pushing boundaries and delivering real-world impact.
What You’ll Do
Define Safety at the Leading Edge of Transportation: Own the development and execution of system safety processes that underpin certification of our seagliders. From risk assessments to system-level analyses, you’ll drive work that keeps passengers safe and regulators confident.
Engineer for Certifiability, Not Just Compliance: Develop and refine key system safety artifacts — including Functional Hazard Analyses (FHA), Fault Trees, FMECA, and Zonal Analyses — aligned with aerospace and maritime standards (e.g., SAE ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, IMO MSC.1/Circ.1592).
Write the Documents That Launch Vehicles: Author craft-level and system-level Preliminary and Final System Safety Assessments (SSAs) that are rigorous, traceable, and certifiable to enable production seagliders in domestic and international markets.
Link Safety to System Design: Define, verify, and trace system safety requirements across complex subsystems, informing design tradeoffs and validation to ensure safety is built in.
Navigate Global Certification Landscapes: Collaborate with U.S. and international regulatory bodies to align safety processes with evolving standards and shape how novel vehicles get certified worldwide.
Own Your Domain, Collaborate Across Boundaries: Work independently within a high-accountability team while partnering with systems engineering, avionics, propulsion, and human factors teams to embed safety into every layer of the vehicle.
What You'll Bring
Deep passion for system safety and risk-informed design in complex, safety-critical environments, with hands-on experience delivering safety analyses and artifacts for aerospace, maritime, or advanced vehicle programs
Strong foundation in complex systems engineering, focusing on identifying, analyzing, and mitigating safety risks across hardware, software, and human interfaces
Proven track record delivering Functional Hazard Assessments, Fault Trees, FMECA, and other formal safety analyses
Deep knowledge of safety certification frameworks such as SAE ARP4761, SAE ARP4754, MIL-STD-882, or equivalents
Ability to develop clear, traceable safety documentation aligned with regulatory standards in aerospace, maritime, or other highly regulated domains
Strong communicator with a systems-level mindset — able to translate complex technical risks across disciplines and contribute to safe, certifiable vehicle design
Note: International and domestic travel may be required on a very limited basis.
Who We're Looking For
Collaborative Team Player: you communicate effectively and work with engineers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align on goals and move projects forward.
Creative Problem Solver: you tackle complex challenges, balance immediate project needs with long-term safety, scalability, and compliance.
Adaptable & Agile: you thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, adapting to changing priorities while maintaining progress.
Innovative Mindset: you’re curious, drive continuous improvement, and embrace new technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and team performance.
