At Biolegacy Research, we are a small, collaborative team dedicated to advancing preclinical science with precision and compassion. Our mission is to drive meaningful discovery through rigorous, humane in vivo pharmacology studies. We foster a supportive and inclusive work environment where open communication, mutual respect, and continuous learning are part of everyday life. Here, your contributions will be valued, and you’ll have opportunities to work closely with experienced scientists while developing your skills and advancing your career.
About The Role
We are seeking a Research Associate I to join our In Vivo Pharmacology team. This is a hands-on position that requires direct, independent work with both small and large laboratory animals. You will prepare and manage biological samples, assist in and independently perform study procedures, and collect critical research data. Responsibilities include dosing, blood and tissue collection, anesthesia monitoring, necropsy, and post-surgical care — all conducted in compliance with strict animal welfare regulations and ethical standards.
What You’ll Do
Perform and assist with in vivo study procedures, including dosing (various routes), blood and tissue collection, necropsy, and related techniques in both small (e.g., rodents) and large (e.g., rabbits, canines, swine) animal models.
Independently handle animals, ensuring proper restraint, welfare monitoring, and compliance with IACUC-approved protocols.
Prepare drug formulations and conduct anesthesia monitoring and post-operative care.
Collect, record, and organize experimental data with accuracy and attention to detail.
Maintain and calibrate lab equipment; promptly report any malfunctions.
Track inventory, restock supplies, and maintain lab readiness for research activities.
Follow all protocols, SOPs, and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) documentation standards.
Contribute to data review and analysis under supervision.
Occasionally work early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required for study needs.
What You Bring
Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and at least 2 years of hands-on in vivo research experience.
Demonstrated proficiency in dosing, blood collection, animal handling, and necropsy in both small and large animal models.
Proven ability to work independently on in vivo procedures, not solely as part of a supervised training program.
Comfort working in an animal research setting, including exposure to surgical procedures and injections.
Familiarity with laboratory safety and GLP principles.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow protocols precisely.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Must provide up-to-date vaccination records and be able to obtain required vaccines (such as tetanus and rabies) and complete mandatory safety and animal handling training prior to starting the job. All required training is paid.
Preferred
ALAT or LAT certification through the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS).
Previous experience in both small and large animal models in a preclinical research setting.
Why Join Us
Hands-on training in advanced in vivo pharmacology techniques.
Collaborative, mission-driven research environment.
Opportunities for career growth and AALAS certification support.
