Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an individual to provide intermediate-level health and safety consulting services for a variety of clients (including construction, transportation, and utility clients) within our team. This position will operate out of the preferred locations of our Nashville, Washington, DC, or Chicago office and will support and coordinate the health and safety projects for our clients nationwide.
This role will report directly to the U.S. Team Lead of Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health and Safety Consulting Services.
This is a casual position, and work will be on an as-needed basis.
Your Key Responsibilities
Provide occupational health and safety (OH&S) consulting services for a variety of projects and clients Assist and support OH&S staff and projects domestically and internationally Assist in the development of OH&S-related programs and procedures, training modules Conduct OH&S compliance auditing Assist with project pre-job planning and hazard assessments Perform appropriate monitoring for weather, heat stress, cold stress, chemical compounds, physical hazards, and other work environmental conditions, and ensure appropriate protocols are followed to protect workers Promote occupational, health, and safety within the company with a goal of continuous improvement of safety culture both internally and with our clients
Your Capabilities And Credentials
Knowledgeable in Federal and State regulations applicable to construction safety. Possess “Competent Person” certification in construction safety disciplines related to the work performed, and possess verifiable training Completed at minimum, the OSHA 510 & 500 Safety and Health Course (this requirement may be waived in place of a safety and health degree or professional safety certification) Training and current certification for CPR/First Aid/AED is required, and able to respond to emergencies Capable of leading and/or supporting accident investigations and developing a concise accident root/apparent cause analysis Able to develop and present safety meetings and training Computer proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software Satisfactory driving record and valid driver’s license Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or working towards certification by the Board of Safety Professionals
Education And Experience
A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related fieldMinimum of five years of construction experience managing safety programs on large construction projects
Five (5) to 10 years of relevant field work experience in an occupational, health, and safety role (preferably in construction project safety)
Travel may be required up to 80% of the time, mainly across the continental US, with potential for overnight stays up to 3 weeks.
A significant portion of the role will be spent in the field monitoring various construction activities; involving exposure to inclement weather and physical requirements that include lifting up to 25lbs.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
