Overview
HazTek Safety Management is seeking a Safety Manager in Deerfield, IL to support project needs by ensuring best practices are implemented, safety compliance requirements are met, and to enhance a culture of safety.
Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of a large-scale pharmaceutical construction project ensuring OSHA compliance
Conduct daily site audits, inspections, and heavy equipment checks
Provide site orientations, routine training, and weekly toolbox talks
Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, and safe work practices across trades
Prepare and maintain OSHA recordkeeping, job hazard analyses, and safe work permits
Lead accident investigations and complete detailed incident reports
Manage subcontractor safety representatives and coordinate with project/client management teams
Support site safety culture through clear communication, coaching, and engagement with both field workers and leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience
Minimum 10+ years of construction safety experience, with strong preference for pharmaceutical or highly regulated environments
Certification in safety required (CHST, CSP, CHMM, or equivalent)
Extensive knowledge of construction safety principles, OSHA standards, and regulatory requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to influence and represent the owner in a highly visible role
Strong leadership, team-building, and program management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software; capable of producing clear reports and documentation
