Overview

Interior/Exterior Creative Design Manager role at Ford Motor Company. The Design Manager leads the Design team in understanding and designing for current and future customers of Ford's product lineup, including Battery Electric Vehicle, Commercial vehicles, Trucks, Compact trucks, Icons, Passenger vehicle/utilities, Luxury, and Emerging Markets. The Design Manager reports to a Chief Designer and is responsible for creating and developing future model exterior/interior vehicle design proposals from concept to production release in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional form. This role includes training and development plans for subordinates and assisting the Design Chief with personnel programs, performance reviews, salary planning, and employee counseling. Responsibilities

Lead the Design team to understand and design for current and future Ford customers across multiple vehicle categories. Develop and communicate the creative vision and ensure output quality across the team. Influence decisions about Vehicle Architecture, Value to the Customer, Customer Research, User Experience, and Cycle Plan development. Pitch ideas and present the creative vision to partners and team members. Facilitate senior stakeholder discussions and manage complex projects with multiple timelines. Hire, develop, and inspire the creative team; lead multiple Ford design projects from conception to completion. Ensure sketch interpretation, design quality, and model progress align with schedules and program deliverables. Collaborate with Ford teams and stakeholders; interface with program engineering for feasible, high-quality products based on designs. Ensure all creative output is consistent with the Ford brand and align exterior/interior appearances with One Ford direction within cost and program constraints. Lead market research model builds through the shops; plan and organize subordinate workloads and assignments. Present program reviews to design leadership; engage with Corporate Senior Management, Product Planning, Strategy, Marketing, Engineering, Digital Media, and Programs teams. Cultivate employee engagement and embody Ford culture and values; mentor and coach others and advise senior stakeholders. Reporting line: to the Chief Designer. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or equivalent. 7+ years of Automotive or Transportation Design experience, including final design product execution. Ability to work independently with strong technical aesthetic judgment to lead team members. Awareness of global automotive and consumer electronics trends; ability to lead in a competitive environment. Demonstrated creative exterior/interior design perceptions; design portfolio (pdf) required upon application. Exceptional design intuition, problem-solving skills, and ability to communicate through sketches and renderings. Three-dimensional thinking with strong emphasis on proportions and form. Familiarity with design trends across automotive, fashion, architectural, and global cultures. Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills (visual, written, and verbal).
