Overview
Traveling Project Manager, Industrial/Manufacturing role at JE Dunn Construction. The Project Manager provides overall direction and leadership on moderately complex projects, or a portion of large construction projects. This position fully implements and manages the operation and administration of projects, in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn. Responsibilities
Leads all aspects of the project’s safety culture and promotes an injury-free environment through personal actions and mentoring others; investigates safety incidents and retrains staff as needed. Manages prestart checklist forms and supports the preconstruction team with quantity takeoff, trade coordination, scope development, bid package development, schedule development, bid list creation and bid advertisement. Leads buyout scheduling, verifies pricing and scope, identifies successful bidders, performs gap analysis against initial scope, and manages subcontract issuance. Manages submittal schedule; coordinates priorities with the team; reviews and approves shop drawings and samples before submittal to architects or engineers; ensures timely return of approved submittals to subcontractors. Coordinates with Logistics for pricing on materials and equipment; works with risk management to ensure subcontractor bonding requirements are met and provides ongoing risk analysis. Interfaces with project stakeholders (subcontractors, owner, field, design team, vendors, etc.); disseminates change requests, gathers subcontractor pricing, and evaluates for accuracy. Prepares, submits and obtains owner/architect approval for change orders; leads project meetings (monthly reviews, progress, Owner-Architect meetings). Directs the monthly pay application process with subcontractors and owners; develops and updates the project schedule for preconstruction and construction activities; manages resources to meet the schedule. Identifies potential schedule impacts and facilitates mitigation plans; provides written documentation for budget, schedule, legal, quality and safety decisions; delivers regular project reporting and profitability analyses. Prepares monthly cost and margin forecasts; participates in budget development and tracks costs relative to budget to enable improved financial performance. Leads the project closeout process using best-practice standards and tools. Interfaces with regional/company legal counsel as appropriate. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; or equivalent relevant experience. 7+ years of construction management experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: strong written and verbal communication; ability to conduct effective presentations; proficiency in MS Office; advanced proficiency in project management software and construction technology; Lean process knowledge; ability to manage budgets and profitability; ability to build collaborative relationships. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience. Working Environment
Valid and unrestricted driver's license; ability to lift up to 25 pounds; willingness to travel and/or relocate; willingness to work non-traditional hours; exposure to extreme conditions (hot or cold). Assignment location may include project sites and/or office; frequent activity: sitting; occasional activity: standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling. Benefits
