The Wall Street Journal is seeking a talented and enterprising reporter to join our corporate bureau. Based in New York, the reporter will cover the consumer retail companies and workplace issues through major corporations, looking at the latest industry trends and their impact on consumers and workers. We’re looking for a journalist with a knack for scoops, a passion for in-depth enterprise reporting, and the ability to explain complex business and economic issues while connecting to the cultural zeitgeist. The ideal candidate will identify trends that erupt on social media and translate them into significant retail movements, understanding how online conversations shape the physical and digital marketplace. Responsibilities
Develop and cultivate a strong network of sources within the retail and management sectors. Break exclusive news and deliver agenda-setting analysis on the latest developments. Conceive and execute deeply reported, long-form stories that provide unique insights into the industry. Cover the intersection of business, technology, and consumer behavior, including the impact of e-commerce and AI. Collaborate with colleagues across different bureaus and teams to produce comprehensive, global coverage. Be able to produce quick, clean, and accurate copy under deadline pressure. Find innovative ways to tell stories, utilizing multimedia formats such as graphics, photos, and podcasts. Qualifications
A proven track record of dominating a competitive beat and producing high-impact scoops and enterprise journalism. Strong reporting skills, with the ability to identify compelling storylines and translate them for a general audience. Excellent writing and communication skills. A deep understanding of the retail and management landscape is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, global newsroom environment.
