Overview
This position provides public safety and security services as a Public Safety Officer assigned to the Boston University Medical Campus Department of Public Safety. Primary responsibility is to provide a safe and secure environment at the National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory (NEIDL), ensuring consistent and safe delivery of service throughout the medical center involving all members institutions, especially for NEIDL. Responsibilities
Enforce and adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the department and university for the protection of BUMC and the NEIDL staff, students, employees and medical center assets. Enforce rules and regulations of the university and all other associated regulatory and oversight agencies. Work under the direction of the Director of Public Safety or their designee. Provide a wide variety of public safety services, including alarm response, emergency medical assistance, investigating reports of suspicious circumstances, and response to criminal matters. Support NEIDL operations and contribute to a safe environment within a major national infectious disease research facility. Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice preferred and/or related work experience. Must be able to successfully pass a background check including: Drug test, previous/current employment verification, CORI/SORI, references, medical and psychological examinations. Licenses and Training
Must possess (and retain) an appropriate Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms. Successful completion of initial on-the-job training, prescribed probation period, and ongoing in-service training. Hiring and Employment Conditions
