Roving Emergency Advisor – Advocacy and Communications (EMPACT)
Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a new colleague to join our roving Emergency, Protection, Assistance and Coordination Team (EMPACT), a multifunctional team of senior Emergency Response Advisors deployable within 72 hours to support DRC Country Offices respond to emergency situations. We are looking for a highly engaged, flexible and driven emergency coordinator to deploy globally into emergency contexts across DRC’s operations with a focus on emergency advocacy and communications with the ability to deliver under pressure and with short time frames. About The Job Your main duties and responsibilities will be: Deploy globally for periods of 1 to 3 months to lead on delivery of country-level communications and advocacy strategies, products and engagement according to DRC’s emergency framework. Collaborate with DRC and partners in the affected country, and with communications and advocacy teams at Headquarters to create emergency communications and advocacy strategies that drives awareness, support fundraising, and policy change. Ensure that high quality, safe, principled, consultative and engaging communications products across different platforms and mediums. Build capacity of and increase engagement with colleagues and partners to elevate the communications and advocacy deliverables as well as some external engagement. About You To be successful in this role we expect you to have a proven record of advocacy and communications in emergency response, ideally with experience in the sectors DRC works in, and in multiple contexts and a willingness and desire to work in both high-pressure and unstable environments. Required At least 5 years of progressive work experience with international advocacy and communications deliverables in humanitarian emergencies or fragile country contexts. Strong journalistic and technical photo, video, story, and social media skills. Experiences in networking with social media influencers and working in international development and humanitarian ecosystems. Proven field communications and advocacy experience in emergency settings. Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise and prioritise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities and ability to delegate. We offer Contract length: 12 months. Band: F. Designation of Duty Station: Roving. Start date: as soon as possible.
